The QP1000 provides excellent steering clearance, even for Tri-5 (1955-57) Chevy cars using the Saginaw 605 power steering gear.

The QP1000 Cast Series header incorporates individual runners to separate the engine’s exhaust pulses, with cast-in anti-reversion baffling to prevent spent gasses from being drawn back into the cylinder during valve timing overlap (when both intake and exhaust valves are open). Scavenging of the cylinders is significantly improved through D-Shaped technology, first used by GM on their HO (High Output) cylinder heads. The result is an exhaust header that creates more torque and power at every RPM range.

Other Benefits:

Because the QP1000 is more compact than tubular headers, it provides more clearance for steering, accessories, and other chassis and engine components. Cast using the highest-quality materials, the QP1000 is stronger and more reliable than the original factory exhaust, and it offers great looks, too! The QP1000 is Sanderson’s most popular header for small block 55-57 Chevy applications!

The CC16 fits applications using stock motor mounts and is compatible with both manual and automatic transmissions. It works on “most” GM-spec angle plug cylinder heads (ZZ4, LT1, ZZ6, 292, Bowtie, etc.) and is compatible with some aftermarket rack-and-pinion steering setups, too (see images)!

NOTE: The standard CC16 does NOT clear factory Air Conditioning on Camaro or Nova. The evaporator box on the firewall interferes with the header. Please specify if the vehicle has factory AC to ensure you receive the correct right-side header.

Product ID Note: Some Sanderson dealers offer the CC16 as part #CC16AP, but it does not fit all aftermarket angle plug cylinder heads. The standard CC16 and CC16AP are identical header sets. There is a difference only on D-port cylinder head applications (ZZ4, ZZ6, etc.). The CC16DP is manufactured using the proper D-port header flange for these applications and includes the “DP” suffix in the product SKU.

Clears all stock steering and chassis components, and works with aftermarket (non-factory) air conditioning, manual transmissions, and power steering.
