The QP1000 provides excellent steering clearance, even for Tri-5 (1955-57) Chevy cars using the Saginaw 605 power steering gear.

The QP1000 Cast Series header incorporates individual runners to separate the engine’s exhaust pulses, with cast-in anti-reversion baffling to prevent spent gasses from being drawn back into the cylinder during valve timing overlap (when both intake and exhaust valves are open). Scavenging of the cylinders is significantly improved through D-Shaped technology, first used by GM on their HO (High Output) cylinder heads. The result is an exhaust header that creates more torque and power at every RPM range.

Because the QP1000 is more compact than tubular headers, it provides more clearance for steering, accessories, and other chassis and engine components. Cast using the highest-quality materials, the QP1000 is stronger and more reliable than the original factory exhaust, and it offers great looks, too! The CC158 header fits any rack and pinion set-up, Vega steering, and any Mustang-style mounted steering that is mounted with 2″ clearance from the steering gear to the center ports on the driver’s side. (Routing the steering shaft around the header is still required, depending on the chassis and steering type.) The CC158 clears most motor mount configurations, tie rods, and steering rods. It is compatible with any starter and transmission combination. The CC158 includes spark plug clearance dimpling on the center two tubes for Vortec-style straight plug cylinder heads, including Blueprint heads. Includes all hardware necessary for installation.
